The Daily Telegraph today revealed that a missing staple in the court file of two of the state's most notorious killers had given them a fresh appeal - and the possibility of being set free. In an astonishing blunder, sloppy record keeping in the Court of Criminal Appeal registry has led to two murderers of Sydney clerk Janine Balding being given special leave to take their case to the High Court. Amazingly, the appeal has been granted because a staple was found to be missing in their court file. Responding to community outrage, Acting Premier John Watkins said today a registrar with extensive experience in criminal law had already been appointed and was working through the the Supreme Court files. "I'm advised that a full review of every single criminal file in the Supreme Court is currently being carried out, to avoid any repeat of this issue," Mr Watkins said…
