Granny smashes pursethief from his bike
Library-goer throws the book at a boy on a bicycle who tried to steal her purse. A woman heading to the Bathurst Clark Resource Library in Thornhill with her three-year-old grandson employed some resourceful manoeuvres on Sunday to thwart a purse snatcher. Police say a boy, about 12 to 14 years old, grabbed her purse while riding by her on a bike. The woman smacked him with a bag of books she was carrying, knocking him off his wheels. Then, she wrestled her purse free. The youth got back on his mountain bike and bolted, police said. The 61-year-old woman received a small cut in the struggle. Her grandson was unhurt…this granny is a real hero, isn’t she? And reading books is good for anyone; like in this case; it’s solving the problems of street criminalty too… ;)
