Devorah Sperber - thread works -
Ana Honigman wrote: ‘Thread spool Works: Sperber's work functions on three interrelated levels simultaneously. From a distance, her works are attractive abstractions. Up close, her unexpected materials (pen caps, brightly coloured pipe cleaners and spools of thread) are endearing and playful. But only when her images are seen through the optical devices she includes in their presentation does the provocative final layer emerge and the image it represents become clear. Through this evolution, a process that can not be summed up through mundane reproduction, Sperber successfully disrupts and then refocuses our perception of familiar images; forcing us to reconsider how we interpret visual information and how we look at art. In a 2004 solo exhibition at the McKenzie Fine Art gallery, Sperber recreated Hans Holbein's iconic 1533 painting, The Ambassadors, by using thousands of chenille stems stitched into a circular rug. The sculpture seems like a drab piece of modernist decoration until Holbein's image, known for its own anamorphic trick, becomes visible in the cylindrical mirror cutting through the rug's centre. This combination of references and affects challenges our expectations of both the neutral sculptural form and the famous painting itself, enlivening and refreshingly connecting them.’ Sorry friends; I posted this time very much text here, but I do want to provoke you: View this site and the beautiful Art of Devorah Sperber at least once! ;)

Welfare shut down...
Conservatives force citizens into being self dependent: New welfare rules designed to reduce rolls; Conservatives, such as Ron Haskins of the Brookings Institution say tough new requirements for many of the 1.9 million families remaining on welfare will force them to get the skills they need to get private-sector jobs. Liberals, such as Sharon Parrott of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, say the rules are likely to push more families into deep poverty by making welfare harder to get and by encouraging states to cut caseloads further.
They didn't see it coming
Hilarious bloopers; it started one way and ended in a funny way, like in everyday life that will happen many times ;)

Imagine a judge with such strange sexual behaviour during a law case in his court ;(

Dad dishes out justice
This video does a good job of explaining what's going on, but the important part is that there's one more bullet in the head of a child rapist. There used to be the raw footage of this which was a lot more graphic, but no one can find it now. If you have it, please send it to me...
16000 firecrackers lit at once
An amazing video of some guys lighting 16,000 fireworks on fire at the same time, that’s one hell of a display! And wasting a lot of money and the air too, at once, kids don’t try to do this at home its insane ;(
Kenny Brack crash
This is one of the worst crashes I have ever seen. As the car hits the side wall it lifts just enough; the car grabbed the fence, causing it to spin dozens of times done the track, that was a big crash; one could question: why? But you can view it here, if you wish ;(
Yard sale addict
Tom Zarrilli wrote on his web-log: ‘I have spent nearly every Saturday morning for the past 20 years going to yard sales in in-town neighbourhoods in Atlanta. I seldom buy anything anymore. Am I wasting my time? I am addicted. But it's no longer the buying that attracts me. It is observing what other people have done with their lives and how this is reflected in what they are getting rid of. I am more of an anthropologist than a bargain hunter. But I am an addict.’ Tom is still going for the thrill ;)
The curve of death
These speed cyclists make a mistake ending in a bad crash, now the Tour the France is starting, its maybe good to view this video too ;)
Bicyclist gets splattered on a car windshield
See that small person off in the distance? Yeah, these kids driving manage to hit and send him flying onto the windshield, thus shattering it. I'm pretty sure not even Stevie Wonder would've hit him ;(

Woman shot during robbery
Apparently no one told this idiot lady that her $7/hour job isn't worth taking a bullet through the chest. If she didn't get employee of the month after this, there's something seriously wrong in the system and with her boss, she’d better give them the money but it’s a brave woman ;)
