A poison gift to the community
£1m 'poison' gift by widow splits village. Locals in the Loire valley say too high a price will be paid to benefit from a 'miraculous' bequest…Not only will the village get the £1m only if the Avenue de la République is renamed after her, her favourite paintings are hung in the mayor's office and her house is sold not to local people but, quelle horreur, 'only to people from Paris', but Louart has added a further condition: that the money is spent on building council houses to be let at peppercorn rates to poor or destitute families. It is a prospect that is far from filling every inhabitant with joy. 'It's a dilemma. Accepting the money will change the village entirely and I like it as it is,' said one 62-year-old local woman, who refused to give her name because 'in a little community you never know. It's her revenge on us all. You can see from her photo that she had a nasty streak.'…

Demolition of pensioners homes in Spain
Spanish 'persecuting' expatriates over homes. Hundreds of Britons fear that they could lose their homes on the Costas in what they claim is an "out-and-out persecution" of the expatriate community. Residents' groups are planning demonstrations outside their town halls over the coming weeks to demand that the homes they bought in good faith are declared safe against an offensive by Spanish authorities to demolish property built illegally. "I doubt very much that we will be here next year," said Mr Bull, 66, as he surveyed the property that has cost them £200,000 just outside the town of Vera. Last week they watched as a demolition crew tore down the home of their neighbours, Len and Helen Prior, after the regional government of Andalusia revoked the building licence issued by the town hall…that’s a very bad experience in Spain…pensioners losing a lot of money on real estate value…

Old lady banned from church
Banned From Church… Reviving an ancient practice, churches are exposing sinners and shunning those who won't repent. On a quiet Sunday morning in June, as worshippers settled into the pews at Allen Baptist Church in southwestern Michigan, Pastor Jason Burrick grabbed his cellphone and dialed 911. When a dispatcher answered, the preacher said a former congregant was in the sanctuary. "And we need to, um, have her out A.S.A.P." Half an hour later, 71-year-old Karolyn Caskey, a church member for nearly 50 years who had taught Sunday school and regularly donated 10% of her pension, was led out by a state trooper and a county sheriff's officer. One held her purse and Bible. The other put her in handcuffs. (Listen to the 911 call) The charge was trespassing, but Mrs. Caskey's real offense, in her pastor's view, was spiritual. Several months earlier, when she had questioned his authority, he'd charged her with spreading "a spirit of cancer and discord" and expelled her from the congregation. "I've been shunned," she says. I call that a stupid, nasty priest, not worth to be the representing man of fait and god here!!! Am I banned too now? That what we expected, its fine to me… ;)

Middle East - Gaza plunged into darkness
Gaza City plunged into darkness The only power plant in the Hamas-run Gaza Strip has shut down because of a lack of fuel, Palestinian officials say, blaming Israeli restrictions. Gaza City was plunged into darkness after the plant's turbines stopped. Israel's closure of border crossings amid continued rocket fire from Gaza has brought the delivery of almost all supplies, including fuel, to a halt. But Israel, which provides 60% of Gaza's power, says the territory still has sufficient fuel stocks. Ailing woman battered during home invasion
Ailing woman battered during home invasion. Jennifer Towe has decided to start locking her front door after a woman entered her home early Thursday and assaulted her mother-in-law. Towe was woken just before 5 a.m. by sounds of a struggle in the living room of her home in the 2300 block of Fowler Lane off Highway 62 near White City. "It's pretty strange first thing in the morning to find a woman on top of your mother-in-law," Towe said.
Jennifer Marie Wojack, 27, was wearing only underwear and a small shirt when she entered the home and attacked 57-year-old Joy Mitchell, who was asleep on the couch. Mitchell — who suffers from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and breaths with the aid of an oxygen tank — suffered bruised ribs and scratches on her throat before Towe's husband managed to pull Wojack off her. The scene was made more chaotic by Wojack's bizarre behavior during the attack. "She was screaming, 'We're going to Egypt, we're going to Egypt' while she was trying to strangle my mother-in-law to death," Towe said.
Mitchell's husband Roy Towe, 35, fought with Wojack until Jackson County sheriff's deputies arrived. Roy Towe, who stands more than 6 feet tall and weighs 250 pounds, had his hands full with the 5-foot, 130-pound Wojack. He sustained a broken nose and dislocated wrist during the scuffle. He was forced to hit Wojack at one point, which prompted her to scream, "Give me more daddy. I like it, I like it," Towe said…psychotic woman needs psychiatric help immediately…
