Reality kidney donor show
A new reality show in the Netherlands would see three seriously ill patients set out why they are most deserving of a life-saving kidney transplant. The "donor" in the show was in fact an actress - though the three people vying for an organ were real patients in need of a kidney transplant. The three knew that The Big Donor Show, which aired on Friday, was not real. The producers say it was made to highlight the shortage of Dutch donors. Before the hoax was revealed, the show had attracted widespread criticism. The donor was an actress At the last moment, presenters of the "Big Donor Show" said the woman was not actually dying of a brain tumor as claimed and the entire exercise was intended to add pressure on the government and to raise public awareness of the need for organs. More Awareness of the need for organs The show was a hoax but that was neccesary to get more attention of the public and last but not least the politicians in The Netherlands…
