Sex offenders banned from jobs in schools
Anyone convicted or cautioned for a sex offence against a child will be banned from teaching, Ruth Kelly has told MPs. The education secretary said she "deeply regretted" concerns caused to parents by recent revelations of sex offenders working in schools. An independent panel will now take over ministers' role of deciding who can work with children, she promised. This woman is fabulous.

Amazing hockey goal
This is Washington Capitals rookie Alexander Ovechkin's amazing falling-backward, over-the-head, twisting goal. This is from Monday night's game against Phoenix. It's being called one of the greatest goals of all time. Ovechkin is now being considered for the Hart Trophy, hockey's MVP award.
